Student Scholarship Awards Student Scholarship Awards

The MSCSW is pleased to announce its 3nd Annual Scholarship Award criteria.

The purpose of this award is to support students with a commitment to clinical social work. MSCSW will make two $500.00 awards this July to two current social work students who are about to enter their advanced year in Clinical Concentration. The MSCSW goal is to support a student’s commitment to clinical social work practice.

In order to be considered for the award, students must be in good academic standing and submit the following:

  • A 250 to 500 word essay articulating their understanding of clinical social work and how that understanding can be implemented in their everyday practice.
  • A letter of recommendation from a School of Social Work instructor stating an applicant’s scholastic ability in clinical social work.
  • A letter of recommendation from their field instructor stating an applicant’s clinical practice in their field placement.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS MAY 15, 2008.

Mail applications to P.O. Box 47577, Baltimore, Maryland 21244. Award announcements will be made in July 2008.

Dear Members:

As President of the Maryland Society for Clinical Social Work, I am excited once again to announce the 3rd Annual Scholarship Award Campaign. As many of you know from the recent annual meeting held at Lori Mostofsky’s home, one of our goals is to increase our presence with students. This year we had many more students attending the annual meeting than in previous years. Helen Kauffman gave an inspirational talk on spirituality and psychotherapy and connecting those dots.

As in previous years, I am asking you to support this worthwhile campaign ~ the future of clinical social work. Give to those budding professionals who want to be like us. Let’s help them achieve their goal. Because of your generosity last year (and the year before) we awarded two ($500.00) scholarships.

Your philanthropy has surpassed my own fantasy of what to expect. Please do that again! Let’s help support students’ education at the School of Social Work. Last year’s winners both received a personal letter from Dean Richard Barth at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

We now have over 40 student members and the number of mentors and mentees has increased dramatically. We are creating a legacy. Awarding these scholarships is a significant achievement. Please contribute as much as you can.

Sincerely,
Timothy C. Donovan, LCSW-C
